BISHOP JOSEPH SS HOPEWELL is one of the founding Fathers of The SPIRIT FILLED FELLOWSHIP and was instrumental in its establishment in 2005. He is the APOSTOLIC BISHOP and the INTERNATIONAL MISSION OVERSEER for this body of Christ.
He has been in pastoral ministry for over 30years having started in ministry as a young man at an early age. He pastured his first HOUSE CHURCH whilst he was a university student in Nashville, Tennesse in the late seventies and went on to pastor a new church in Atlanta, Georgia in the early 1980’s before being called by God to the international mission field.
He is married to Pastor Jannet Hopewell [an accomplished author & minister] and they have four children, who are all involved in pastoral missions.
He was raised in the Prophetic & Charismatic tradition of the Celestial Church of Christ. He eventually became ordained by the Trinity Evangelical Church before being appointed and elevated by the Spirit Filled Fellowship in 2005 to the office of The Apostolic Bishop.
He is responsible for the affairs of over 500 churches scattered in the Diaspora around the world and has been responsible for bringing various large Church bodies under the COVERING of the fellowship. He oversees missions work in the United States, United Kingdom, Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Malawi, Pakistan, India and in other places. He currently oversees over 1,000 pastors and the numbers are growing by the day.
His first passion is MISSIONS & EVANGELISM. He is a preacher, teacher, mentor, educator, minister and the author of theSOUL CONVERSATIONS series of books. His recent works includeWOVEN & DOMINION that were released in April 2009.
His pastoral and ministry style is PROPHETIC!
His anointing is most suited for PRAYER WARRIORSHIP
and TOTALLY reliant on the POWER OF THE BLOOD of the LAMB to destroy STRONGHOLDS of the enemy within & outside of the body of Christ.
He is a passionate advocate for EQULITY FOR WOMEN both in ministry and in life. And he spends a substantial part of his ministry time and work in these areas, with special emphasis on encouraging churches to allow WOMEN to rise to their TRUE DESTINY within the body of Christ as CHRIST intended when He positioned women for His BIRTH, in His MINISTRY, at His DEATH and especially at His RESURRECTION!
He is affectionately known as THE MESSENGER! When asked who his favourite prophets are, he said; “I submit myself to GOD ALMIGHTY and I am forever praying and asking him that I may be made ready by Him & enabled to be SPIRIT DRIVEN all the time in the tradition of John The Baptist, Ezekiel, Jeremiah & Isaiah for the purpose of serving His Mighty Kingdom for such a time as this.”
